Autumn vibes !

    Je suis de moins en moins présente sur ce blog, mais c'est vrai que j'ai pas mal de travail ces temps-ci ! Et pour tenter de me faire pardonner, voici non pas une nouvelle info mais DEUX nouvelles infos !
  La première, ci-dessus, est le résultat d'un concours que j'avais lancé sur ma page Facebook à l'occasion de mes 100 likes (youhou !!). J'avais demandé aux participants de choisir un animal de leur choix, et le gagnant recevrait une illustration originale exclusive de cet animal. Cela aura mis du temps car, une fois encore, je manquais un peu de temps, mais je suis plutôt contente du résultat :)

  Le seconde, ci-dessous, est un aperçu d'un projet encore un peu secret, que je dévoilerai un peu plus en détails fin novembre-début décembre. Alors revenez dans ces eaux-là pour la grande révélation, haha ;)

    I'm less and less present on this blog, but it's true that I have quite a lot of work lately! And as an attempt to make myself forgiven, here is not one piece of news but TWO news !
  The first one above is the result of a contest that I had launched on my Facebook page to celebrate the 100 likes (woohoo !!). I had asked the participants to choose an animal of their choice, and the winner would receive an exclusive original illustration of this animal. This will have taken some time because, again, I was missing time, but I'm pretty happy about the result :)

  The second one below is a glimpse at a yet a bit secret project, that I will unveil more in details by the end of November - beginning of December. So come back and check up around that time for the great revelation, haha ;)

T-shirt party !

Aujourd'hui, j'ai besoin de vous. Vous qui passez par hasard (ou pas) sur ce blog et qui prenez la peine de regarder mon travail.
Il y a de cela quelques semaines, j'ai été contactée par Mister Dress-Up, qui est une boutique en ligne de T-shirts, imprimés en édition limitée avec des visuels de divers artistes.
On m'a donc proposé de leur envoyer une des mes illustrations pour qu'elle soit à son tour imprimée sur un T-shirt ! Mais je ne sais que choisir... C'est pour cette raison que j'apprécierais si vous pouviez donner votre avis sur lequel de ces visuels vous imagineriez le mieux sur un T-shirt blanc :)

    Hello everybody !
Today I need you. You, who come across randomly (or not) on this blog and who take the time to look at my work.
A few weeks ago from now, I've been reached by Mister Dress-Up, which is an online store for T-shirts, printed in limited edition with diverse artists' visuals.
I've then been suggested to send them one of my illustrations so it can be itself printedon a shirt ! But I don't know which one to choose... That's the reason why I'd appreciate if you could give your opinion about which one of those visuals you would imagine best on a white shirt :)

Autrefois... Le Minotaure

 

   Aujourd'hui, j'ai enfin pu me procurer le très joli nouveau livre d'Agnès Domergue et Cécile Hudrisier, Autrefois l'Olympe... Mythes en haïku, que j'attendais avec assez d'impatience ! C'est à l'occasion de sa sortie que j'ai également participé à un petit concours sur le site d'Agnès Domergue, consistant à écrire et/ou illustrer un (ou tous) des mythes proposés.

Voici donc ma participation en dessin et, ci-dessous, le haïku correspondant !

   Today, I could at last go and get the very pretty new book by Agnès Domergue and Cécile Hudrisier, Autrefois l'Olympe... Mythes en haÏku (In Former Times the Olympus... Myths Written in Haïku), that I was waiting for quite impatiently ! It is at the occasion of its release that I have also participated to a little contest on Agnès Domergue's site, consisting in writing and/or illustrating one of (or all) the suggested myths.

So here is my drawn participation and, below, the corresponding haïku !

   Je viens de participer à un concours qui a priori ne me ressemble pas, puisqu'il s'agit de créer une illustration pour le magazine Glamour, avec pour thème "dessiner votre icône glamour".
Malgré tout, le challenge me plaisait et si à la base je comptais m'essayer à une illustration bien "mode", j'ai finalement décider de rester dans mon univers, ce qui est après tout important je pense.

Malheureusement, je n'ai pas eu le temps de m'en occuper avant et aujourd'hui est le dernier jour pour voter... Sachant que le jury sélectionnera le gagnant parmi les 5 plus votés et que ceux-ci ont actuellement dépassé les 2000 votes, je sais que je n'ai aucune chance.
Cependant, je laisse traîner le lien pour ceux qui passeraient par là aujourd'hui et qui voudraient bien me montrer leur soutien, car même si je ne gagne pas, ça me ferait très plaisir de savoir si mon dessin plaît au moins à quelques personnes. Merci !

   I just sent my participation for a contest that doesn't look like me a priori, since it's about creating an illustration for the magazine 'Glamour', with "draw your glamorous icon" as its theme.

Nonetheless, I liked the challenge and if at first I was intending to try myself to a purely "fashion" illustration, I eventually decided to stay in my world, which is afterall important I think.

Unfortunately, I hadn't had the time to deal with it sooner and today is the last day for voting... Knowing that the jury will select the winner among the 5 with the most votes and that those currently crossed 2000 votes, I know I have no chance.

However, I am leaving here the link for those who would come by today and would want to show me their support, because even if I don't win, I would be very pleased to know if at least a few people like my drawing. Thank you !

"Screams of The Undead" - part 3

 

   This week, I've created for another contest (yes, that's the "contests' month !) and here, before your eyes and after the two previous steps I posted on this blog, is the final result.

In the end, I used about every material I could find... Acrylic, ink, pastels, pencils... And even some digital additions.

The result is quite far from what I had in mind at first (and maybe from what you can tell after my first sketches) but I am learning to like it. The only big frustration I have is that the blue background is not the original colour that actually is on my paper. I had used this same ink for a previous illustration in my Beauty and the Beast project, and I had had a hard time already to find the colour back on the computer... (I should have remembered before but... Ah well).

Then, there is also the little flowers... I'm not very satisfied with them, something seems wrong. But from the feedbacks I had for now, I am the only one annoyed by that, so... :)

My idea at first was to make something born out of the death. Here the flowers were supposed to symbolize a rebirth through the skull of the demon. Even the dead trees are showing signs of rebirth... For there are leaves appearing, flying around them. Finally, the rebirth can be found also in the skull itself, because my aim was to give a new shape to the emblematic figure of the band, to turn it into something recognizable but different. So I kind of gave it another life (without any meaning of pretension though, I hope you get that !) :)

Et ça continue... ("Screams of The Undead" - part 2)

 

   Voilà une nouvelle petite étape avant le final mercredi. Ici, le côté peinture est terminé, j'y ai depuis rajouté le pastel et autres pierres noires... Normalement, quelques petits éléments en plus sont prévus avant la numérisation, mais pour l'instant je ne suis pas sûre de la forme que cela va prendre... Je fonctionne un peu à l'instinct sur cette illu !

Dans tous les cas, la deadline est mercredi, donc demain soir, tout doit être fini ! Rendez-vous dans deux jours pour le résultat !

   Here is a new step before the final on Wednesday. From what you can see, the painting side is now done, and I have added since then  pastel and other black-stone pencils... There should be a few other elements before digitization, but for now I'm not sure about the shape it will take in the end... I'm working a bit by instinct on this illustration !

Anyway, the deadline is on Wednesday, so tomorrow evening everthing must be finished ! Meet you in two days for the result !

"Screams of the Undead"

   En ce moment, je prépare une nouvelle illustration pour un nouveau concours. Il s'agit d'une affiche pour le groupe de metalcore Demon Hunter. Basés sur leur logo, source de nombreuses variations graphiques sur chacun de leurs nouveaux albums, ainsi que sur mon ressenti personnel par rapport à leur musique en général, voici mes premiers tests d'ambiances et de matières :

   These days, I am preparing a new illustration for a new contest. It's about a poster for the metalcore band Demon Hunter. Based on their logo, source of many graphic variations on any of their new albums, as well as on my personal feeling through their music in general, here are my first tests for ambiences and material :

   Je ne suis pas encore fixée, même avec ces essais, mais j'ai l'impression d'avoir avancé. La composition me semble cependant être plus ou moins définitive (notamment pour l'essai en bas à droite) =)

   I am not yet certain of anything, even with those tests, but I have the feeling that I've moved on. The setting seems more or less definitive to me though (especially for the bottom right-hand corner test) =)

* Design for Secret Solstice * (contest)

 

   One again, I participated to a contest on Talenthouse. This time, it was about designing a visual for the launch of the music festival Secret Solstice, near Reykjavik in Iceland. If you like my illustration, you have 5 days to vote starting by now :)

"Combining Iceland and music... What a perfect challenge. How to even translate all the feelings that both inspire into one single image ? 

I chose one path : rhythm. 

As a reference to synchromism at first, concentric circles are embrassing the landscape, symbolizing then musical waves but also waves onto water -which is the main element here- and any living beat. They create the substance of what's being demonstrated. 

Iceland landscapes are full of rhythms... The echoes of our steps onto the rocky ground or muffled into the smooth grass, the deep rumbling of volcanoes or the clearer one of geysers, as well as the relaxing tempo or the thundering sound of waterfalls... 

Music is obviously full of rhythms... It's in its essence... 

And eventually, when facing beautiful and inspiring wide spaces, while listening to beautiful and inspiring melodies, you will find out a new rhythm : the one of your heartbeats."

When the inside is bleeding, when the mind is in a maze, we wish we could just extract our heart from our body, for it is here that all the pain and dispair happen. But we may tear down its fragile layers over and over again, it seems that our feelings will always catch us back and won't give us any rest. The only thing left to do it seems, is to run. Wherever. And for as long as it's needed.

This overall interpretation found inspiration in some parts of the lyrics while the music, during the chorus, brought its touch by emphasizing a feeling of being aspirated into an endless tunnel...

... Voici pour me faire pardonner de n'avoir rien posté en Décembre, ni dessin ni "joyeux Noël"!!! C'est une peinture exclusivement numérique ( aussi, soyez gentils car c'est ma première vraie peinture numérique ^^) réalisée pour un concours auquel j'ai participé par le biais de mon école, pour le restaurant La Mare aux Oiseaux, qui se transforme en Maison des Ours pour les fêtes de Noël, d'où la thématique! =)

Et c'est donc avec un peu de retard que je vous souhaite une très bonne année à tous!!!

... This for making myself forgiven for not having posted anything in December, neither drawing nor "merry Christmas"!!! This is an only digital painting ( also, be nice because this is my first real digital painting ^^) executed for a contest for which I participated through my school, for the restaurant La Mare aux Oiseaux, turning into Maison des Ours (House of Bears) for Christmas holidays, hence the theme! =)

And so this is with a little delay that I wish you all a very happy new year!!!

SWEETTI FRUTTI, LE BONBON BIO

Voici à présent mon sujet d'examen de fin de deuxième année (dans mon école précédente) pour lequel il s'agissait de créer absolument toute la communication autour d'un seul produit, donc: Sweetti Frutti, un bonbon 100% fruits bio... Je vous l'accorde, on a tous eu un hoquet en apprenant qu'on allait devoir travailler 3 semaines sur un bonbon... et qui plus est: BIO!

Mais enfin, qui dis 100% bio disait aussi 100% fabrication artisanale! ^^ Donc, tout ce qui se trouve ici a été issu de ma petite tête et créé par mes petites mains!

Tout d'abord, il lui fallait bien un logo à ce bonbon! Le voici, le voilà! ^^ Et comme il s'agissait quand même d'un examen important servant à déterminer si tout ce qu'on avait appris jusque là avait été acquis, toutes les matières devaient être présentées, c'est pourquoi s'en suit le modèle dudit bonbon, réalisé avec un logiciel de 3D =) (Oui bon, le bonbon tout en haut, il est dessiné au crayon! ^^)

Here is now my exam's subject for the end of my second year of studies (in my previous school) for which it was meant to create absolutely the whole communication around only one item, so: Sweetti Frutti, a candy 100% organic fruits made... I grant you, we all had a gasp by learning that we were about to have to work during 3 weeks on a candy... and on the top of that: ORGANIC!
But well, whoever is saying 100% organic was also saying 100% hand-crafted! ^^ So, everything here came from my little mind and created by my little hands!

First, it did need a logo for this candy! Here it is, there it is! ^^ And as it was actually an important exam which aim was to determinate if everything we had learnt so far had been understood, every lesson had to be pictured, that's why is following the model of the said candy, realised with a 3D software =) (Yeah well, the candy all above, it is drawn with a pen! ^^)

 

Ensuite, un peu de packaging (ouiiii ^^), donc là c'était je pense l'exercice clé de l'examen, avec le logo. Car si ces deux marchent, le reste va (plutôt) tout seul! ^^ Donc, rien à ajouter mis à part que la déclinaison du pack devait se faire sur 4 parfums: fraise, citron, melon et pomme...

Then, a bit of packaging (yeeees ^^), so here was I think the key-exercise of the exam, with the logo. Because if these two were working, the rest comes (almost) all on its own! ^^ So, nothing to add except that the pack had to be available for 4 flavours: strawberry, lemon, melon and apple...

Et alors l'annonce presse... Je tiens à repréciser que tout sur ces photos a été 100% fait main! (Sauf les typos utilisées, je vous l'accorde) Donc, je me suis imprimé mes petits packs, je les ai pliés-collés et emportés dans mon baluchon à la recherche d'un arbre fuitier et faire un petit shooting photo avec ça! ^^

And so the press ad... I 'd like to precise again that everything on these pictures was 100% craft-handed! (Except the typefaces that I used, I grant you) So, I printed my little packs for myself, I folded-sticked and took them away in my bundle, seeking for a fruit tree and have a little photo shooting with all of this! ^^
(the catch sentence on the ad is saying: "Greediness to a natural state")

 

S'en suit le flyer (qui m'aura causé de petits soucis de mise en page... Rien ne me convenait!!), ou en fait, c'est un dépliant qui devait contenir des informations sur les produits issus de l'agriculture biologique, ainsi que spécifiquement le petit panel des produits Sweetti Frutti =) Là encore, imprimé... Je l'aime bien maintenant, c'est rigolo de le tenir entre ses mains, hihi!

What comes next is the flyer (which would have caused me little layout problems... Nothing was satisfying me!!), or actually, it's a leaflet that had to present information on products from organic agriculture, and also specifically the little panel of the Sweetti Frutti products =) There again, printed... I like it now, it's funny to hold it within my hands, hihi! 

Ensuite, il fallait inventer un petit stand promotionnel pour ces bonbons... Couramment, il devait s'agir d'un stand de comptoir. La petite astuce, c'est que nous avions eu un cours de maquette, DONC! J'ai également exécuté la maquette du stand, malheureusement restée chez moi pour l'instant, mais don't worry, dès que je rentre pour les vancances, je prends ça en photo et je le poste! ^^ (Il en va de même pour le projet du "buzz" internet, ce n'est pas la chose dont je suis la plus fière mais ça faisait partie de l'exam donc il faut le mettre! Ce sont 2 planches dessinées, dont une présentant un petit story-board)

Then, we had to think up about promotional stand for these candies... Commonly, it had to be a counter stand. The little trick is that we had had a model lesson, SO! I also also produced the model for the stand, unfortunately stayed at home for now, but don't worry, as soon as I come back home for holidays, I take a picture of that and I post i! ^^ (And it is so for the internet "buzz" project, this is not the thing I'm the most proud about but it was part of the exam so I have to put it here! It consists of 2 drawn boards, among which is one with a little story-board)

Et donc forcément, après avoir vu les médias d'impression et sur lieu de vente, il fallait en venir à internet! Ici, ce sont 2 pages à développer choisies au hasard du site qui aurait été consacré à Sweetti Frutti ( et... click to zoom! ^^), vous remarquerez que je me suis accordée une petite fantaise en inventant une possibilité d'achats en ligne et ah oui! Une page pour le "Sweetti Fruttier" qui est donc le nom de mon projet de buzz =)

And so obviously, after having browsed the print and sales-outlet media, we had to come to the internet! There are 2 pages to develop chosen at random from the site that would have been made especially for Sweetti Frutti (and... click to zoom! ^^), you will notice that I allowed myself a little fancy by inventing the possibility of buying online and oh yes! There is a page for the "Sweetti Fruttier" (translate "fruttier" by "fruit tree", it was made to be a pun because the real French term is "fruitier") which is the name of my buzz project =)

 

  

Et youpiii! Pour finir pour aujourd'hui, je suis arrivée à intégrer une autre chose demandée à l'examen, un bandeau animé destiné à se trouver sur internet, en l'occurence il était réservé à un site en particulier mais l'important n'est pas là! ^^ Ah oui! Et petite précision, là, c'est la fraise qui arrive en premier, mais il va de soi que l'animation est à décliner pour les 3 autres parfums! =)

And yipeeee! To close this for today, I managed with joining something else that was asked for the exam, an animated banner supposed to be on internet, in this case it was meant for a specific website but the important doesn't stand in here! ^^ And yes! A little precision, here it is the strawberry that comes first, but naturally the animation is to develop for the 3 other flavours! =)

Mais en fait, ce n'est pas tout à fait terminé, puisque l'examen ne comportait pas vraiment de sujet pour l'illustration (moi, j'ai bien fait des petits dessins mais ça n'a rien à voir avec l'illustration de toutes manières! ^^). Donc, les professeurs nous ont lancé sur le petit concours annuel du magazine Ventilo, magazine Marseillais sur la culture en générale, qui consistait à créer la première de couverture du numéro spécial festivals de l'été! Voili voilou!

But actually, it is not completely over, since the exam wasn't really containing an illustration subject (I, for one, did some little drawings but this has nothing to do with illustration anyway! ^^). So, the teachers put us on the little annual contest for the magazine Ventilo, magazine from Marseilles on culturein general, which was consisting in creating the first cover of the special issue for the summer festivals! And that's all!

 

(Et oui, je sais, je me suis plantée sur la typo... En vrai, ça me donne envie de retravailler ça! Affaire à suivre... ^^)
