* One More Light *

 

I was planning, and hoping, to post another illustration today, but things can sometimes be unpredictable.
Yesterday, I heard with immense sadness that one of the most influential artist of my life had passed away.
Linkin Park is the first band I ever was a fan of, and this is mainly thanks to them that I listen to all the great music that accompanies me in my life today.
Past the sadness, the incomprehension, the sympathy for family and friends and the pain of realizing all the things it now means, I realized I couldn't not do something today in his memory.
So here is my tribute, done in just a few hours and with still that open wound that many fans around the world are feeling right now. But I had to, and even if at time it was really hard to continue, I guess it's also a help for me to say goodbye. Hopefully, a good goodbye.

   Aujourd'hui, je vais parler du projet d'une amie qui a besoin de soutien pour le réaliser.
Elle crée des mosaïques et souhaite proposer son travail à des galeries d'Art afin de pouvoir monter sa première exposition. Seulement, avant de présenter son travail, elle doit créer bien d'autres pièces. Et c'est là que nous entrons en jeu !

Today, I am going to talk about the project of a friend who needs support to realise it.
She creates mosaics and wish to suggest her work to Art galleries so she can build her first exhibition. Just, before she can present her work, she has to create many other pieces. And this is where we enter the game !

I ♥ mon libraire

Aujourd'hui, je ne poste pas pour partager mes travaux, mais pour partager ce logo que l'on retrouve en ce moment sur plusieurs blogs de libraires.
Car le métier de libraire est en danger! On le sait tous plus ou moins mais il est important de le rappeler, par amour des livres, et par respect pour ceux qui en ont fait leur métier.
En lisant quelques articles de libraires, je me suis rendue compte que tous pensaient que ce n'était pas le livre numérique qui pourraient faire mourir le livre papier -contrairement à ce que moi je pensais- car le numérique ne vise pas le même public et l'usage que l'on en fait n'est pas le même. En revanche, le danger est bel et bien la consommation. On a tous le reflex d'aller acheter sur Amazon, à la Fnac, au Virgin, ou autre grand magasin de la sorte.
C'est vrai, j'avoue que je suis moi-même une consommatrice récurrente sur Amazon ou à la Fnac, pour plusieurs raisons. Mais j'aime tellement rentrer dans une librairie... Car quoique l'on puisse penser, l'étendue du choix est vraiment très grande, il est possible que l'on y trouve des livres que l'on n'avait jamais vu auparavant dans d'autres magasins, et que si l'on recherche quelque chose de particulier et que l'on ne sait pas par où commencer, les libraires sont là pour nous guider et nous conseiller, car c'est leur métier, qu'ils ont lu quasiment la totalité des livres qu'ils vendent, et qu'ils s'en souviennent pour nous aiguiller au mieux.

Ce métier est une passion, et vous pouvez entendre cela de la bouche de n'importe quel libraire.

Et je me sens enfin concernée pour mon métier également. Parce que ces gens-là sont les personnes qui vendent les livres que je vais illustrer. C'est un cercle vicieux.

Soutenons ce métier en nous rappelant qu'acheter en librairie est un choix, et qu'il peut faire changer les choses!

 Today, I don't post to share my works, but to share this logo that we can find those days on several French books-sellers' blogs. It simply says "I love my books-seller".
Because this profession is in danger! I don't know in other countries, but at least here in France it's been a problem for a few years already. We all know it more or less, but I thought it was important to remind it, for the love of books, and by respect for the people who made their job with that.
By reading a few articles written by books-sellers, I realized that all of them thought that it wasn't the e-book that could make the real books die - contrary to what I was thinking - because the digital doesn't aim at the same public and the use we're doing of it is not the same. However, the danger is really the consummation. We all have the reflex to go buy on Amazon, to the Fnac (this is the biggest French cultural store line), to Virgin or any store of that kind.
It's true, I admit that I am myself a current consumer of Amazon and the Fnac, for several reasons. But I so love going into a bookshop... Because no matter what you can think, the range of choice is really big, you may find there books you may have never seen in other stores and if you're looking for something specific but don't know where to start, these books-sellers are here to lead and advise us, because this is their job, that they've read almost all of the books they're selling, and that they remember everything in order to recommand you what's the best.

This is a job of passion, and you can hear that from every books-seller.

And I feel concerned as for my job too. Because these people are the ones who will sell the books I will illustrate. This is a circle.
